Tooth #2

Within 48 hours, Ryan lost his 2nd tooth! This one was hanging on by a thread when he went to bed. I was certain he was going to swallow it or lose it in his bed. Ryan woke up and came right to our room to show us that he 2nd tooth was out. He was very happy to get more $ from the Tooth Fairy but now he is sad that he doesn't have anymore loose teeth. :) I assured him that all of his teeth will be loose at some point but a 5.5yo doesn't have much patience!

Ryan's turn with the Tooth Fairy

Ryan's bottom front 2 teeth have been loose for a few months. About 1 month ago, we noticed that his adult teeth were already coming in behind the baby teeth (ala shark teeth). I called our dentist and they assured us that it was fine. The baby teeth would fall out and the adult teeth will move into place.  Ryan wanted nothing more than a visit from the Tooth Fairy...so he started wiggling, wiggling, wiggling that tooth!  It was very loose this week and I tried to pull it a few times with no success. Apparently my older brother Jared got the 'tooth pulling' gene in our family :).  On Friday morning, I tried one more time and it was just hanging by a thread.  Ryan sat down to watch TV and within 2 minutes, screamed 'MY TOOTH! MY TOOTH FELL OUT!'. He was VERY excited and put the tooth right under his pillow even though it was only 9am!\

Ryan came into my room @ 12:30am to show me the $5 that the Tooth Fairy left for him. When he woke up again in the morning, I asked why he came in the middle of the night. He told me that it was dark 'like morning' so he didn't know what time it was!

The other tooth is very loose too so we may get another visit from the Tooth Fairy before we know it!

TUB TIME!

Allie & Ryan have pretty much outgrown taking a bath. Showers are easier (and faster!) However, I asked them if they wanted to take a bath with Sean tonight and they were SO EXCITED! They had so much fun and Sean loved it too!

REAL Snow

Sure, we've had a few flurries, some ice...but last night we had our first REAL snow. We have about 5 inches of snow and now the freezing rain is adding a lovely layer of ice. No school today and it seems like we won't have school tomorrow either! Allie & Ryan had fun outside this morning and can't wait to go back out this afternoon.

Bye-Bye Bunny

Ryan gave up his lovey, Bunny, today. I'm not surprised considering Bunny almost burned down the house this afternoon.

Wait. Let's back up.

When Ryan was born, we received this adorable lovey blanket from our friends, the Bermans.
We started putting 'Bunny' in Ryan's crib when he was about a year old.  When we realized that he was becoming attached to Bunny, we bought 3 more. We were able to rotate all the bunnies so Ryan always had a clean one for bedtime. For a long time, Ryan would lay Bunny on his pillow at bedtime via a very specific routine.  I compared him to a baseball player's pre-batting ritual.  We've been talking a bit about when he might be ready to give up Bunny but he always said 'not yet'.

I don't have ANY pictures of Ryan with Bunny. He was strictly a lovey that stayed in his room. If we travelled, Bunny came along but he was never the kind of lovey that Ryan carried around all day long.

Well, we have been down to 2 Bunnies for about 2 years.  Earlier today, Ryan came downstairs and he was very upset. Somehow, Bunny was left on top of his lamp and the lightbulb BURNED a hole in Bunny!  I went into Ryan's room and it certainly smelled like something was burning.  We are lucky that Ryan found it as I'm pretty sure it would have started a fire!

About 2 hours later, Ryan declared that he didn't need Bunny anymore and he wanted to give his last Bunny to Sean.  How Sweet!  I guess all it took was an almost-house fire for him to be ready to give him up!

White Christmas

Yes, it is SNOWING in Georgia on Christmas Day! Apparently, this is the first time since 1882. Crazy! The kids went outside for about 10 minutes. It's a wet-snow and I think they would much rather play with all of their new toys!

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and morning. Everyone got new PJs (even American Girl) and we set out milk, cookies, and carrots for Santa and the reindeer.  Sean must have been REALLY excited since he was up over an hour earlier than usual. Of course, he fell back to sleep and then Allie & Ryan had to wait for him to get up. Such good siblings!

The living room was chaos for about 20 minutes. Allie and Ryan tore open presents while Sean sat and watched and drooled and ate wrapping paper. Fun for everyone!

We are enjoying a quiet day at home...watching the snow fall outside. Merry Christmas!
