Snow much fun!

I think we have about 3-4 inches of snow! The kids were SO excited to get out and play in it today! Luckily, I have snowpants for both of them so they can stay (slightly) warm while they are out there! We played in our front yard and then our neighbors invited them over to play.  I forgot how much fun it can be to play in the snow. I guess I took it for granted growing up in MA...but it's a real treat for my southern babies!

So pretty
Yes, these Southern kids have snowpants!

More snow fun with the neighbors

The forecast is for potential snow or sleet on Monday! This is the coldest, wettest, snowiest winter we have had in the 9 years that we have lived here! The kids certainly love it but I am ready for spring!!

More Snow

We are having our 2nd snow of the season! I think this is the most snow that Allie & Ryan have seen in ATL.  It's a heavier, wet snow and everything is covered! I hope it will stick around so we can play in it for a few days!

Allie playing on the deck
Throwing snowballs into the pool
Posing with her new friend, Mr. Snowball (it was a short-lived relationship)
Laughing @ Allie throwing snow at the door
Don Juan (aka Ryan) decided to stay inside to make Valentine's for his many lady friends
Such concentration!

A little over 2in @ 6pm and still snowing!

My funny Valentines

Allie & Ryan dressed in their finest red and hearts for Valentine's Day celebrations @ school. Yes, Iron Man is the 'cool' way to wear red!

They each came home with a BIG bag of valentine cards and candy! And the real Valentine's Day is still 2 days away!

All About Dad

Today, Allie's class had a 'Donuts for Dads' celebration. Neil is in Seattle for work so I joined Allie and her class for the celebration.  We ate munchkins, drank juice, and played a game on the Smart Board.  Allie made these pictures and answered these questions about Neil.  I think it's cute how she wrote 'My dad name is dad'. I asked her 'What do I call Daddy' (almost afraid of what she would say...ha ha) and she said 'Neil, but I can't spell Neil like I can spell Dad!'. So cute!

Mini-me

It's been apparent for a while that Allie looks a lot like me. Here is a picture from a birthday party I attended when I was probably 6-7yo (I am all the way on the right). My hair is darker but no doubt she is my kid.

Well, it turns out her 'mini-me'-ness goes beyond our faces.  Allie is growing into a mini-nerd. Just like me.  Last week we had this conversation:

Allie: Mommy, I can't wait to go to school tomorrow!
Me: Why?
Allie: So I can learn something new!

And this morning she is watching DiscoveryHD (Ant Wars and now Killer Squid). She told me to leave it on this channel 'so she can learn'!  Allie loves to read and practice writing. We just updated her room with new furniture, including her own computer.  It is amazing for me to see how well she can manuever on the computer. To think I didn't even have an email address until I was a junior in college!

I love Allie's enthusisasm for school and learning. I can only hope it lasts.  I loved school all the way through graduate school (yes, I am a huge nerd!!)

An early Buzz

Ryan and his friend Dawson got matching BUZZ cuts this week. Dawson was a little creative with the scissors and his own hair on Wednesday and needed a buzz to 'fix' it. He was a little unsure about the buzzers so we went along to SportClips.  Ryan loves getting buzzed so he went first.  Dawson felt much better about it after watching Ryan!  Their preschool teacher told me that she had a hard time telling them apart today in class. I think they look like they are ready to ship out to boot-camp! At least Ryan won't need a haircut for a while!

February Funnies

Ryan told me this morning that he was going to 'tidy up' the playroom as a Valentine's Day present for me! I hope he can keep it clean for another week or so!

Allie was talking about what she was going to do when she grows up. She said she wanted to move to New York and live in a hotel (which she really meant a high-rise building with an elevator). When I asked what she will do for a job, she said 'I'm just going to retire'.  Sounds like a plan to me!

And here is Ryan modeling his new Yoda hoodie. :)
